Aight so I've got finals this week. I took one on Monday and it was pretty easy. It was weird cause the prof made the final exam with only 20 questions so that kinda gives you little room for error. Oh well, I think I did pretty good so we'll see. I've got 3 on Wednesday which sucks wiener, but fuckit, I just wanna get em over with.

In other news, I've been wanting to put out one of my instrumental projects but haven't really had the time to do anything cause of work and school. Aight so the semester is almost over. Its been a pretty fuckn long one too. I think I did well in all my classes so I'm not too worried.

The dopest thing happening though is that I will have 2 tracks on a 12" that my man Evolve is putting out before his album. On the real, Evolve is making one of my dreams come true. I mean, I don't think anyone doing hip hop here in this area has ever put out a 12" before so that alone is dope but to be a part of it with 2 joints that Evolve spit on...shit that's butta baby! Ok, going back to school after a week off was harder than I thought. Man I DID NOT want to go to school at all, but the stupid little voice in my head kept telling me that my professors were gonna go over important shit so I went.

Ok, so I'm back in school after __years of not attending. I'm not gonna lie, the first day was hella overwhelming and thats cause we hardly did anything. I guess being out of the school system for so long kinda takes a toll on you. I'm getting it back though and I think I'll do fairly good this semester.

I'm currently working on some projects with joee and some other stuff for the nervous fish fam. It should all be super dope.

Aight so I'm back again. I put out the A New Hope project and everyone that heard it seemed to like it and some people that heard it...well I know they didn't like it. lol Overall, I got a really great response from the few people that heard it so I wanna thank those people. And I also wanna send a bit of a shout out to all the Nervous Fish fam! They were one of the main reasons why more people heard the project so thank you!

Besides being busy with music, another one of the reasons why I hadn't really been on here was because me and the girl I was dating had broken up a few months ago but December was really the rough time. I thought it was funny that my relationships and the Dallas Cowboys are similar in the fact that they never do good in December! lol

Either way, I'm back, got both heads where they supposed to be, getting lifted and I'm working on many projects. I'm really excited right now. I just can't wait to finish em up and have ya'll listen to them. Its gonna be hella dope.

Whats the haps fam? Well the weekend is here once again, and I've got a pretty busy one ahead of me. I was planning on releasing my tape this week but I just got caught up with some other stuff. I'm not gonna be like those fucks who say their album got "pushed back" when they're not even on a legit label! I just don't have mine done. It's not up to my standards so I've been going back on it. Sometimes I hate that I'm so fucking picky with this shit. I remember when I would make beats for Fred and flip and I would give them a beat then tell them I wanna change a few things and next thing you know I have a totally different beat. lol Oh well, it is what it is. It makes me who I am. I digress. The tape will be out next week, no doubt!

Hmmm I also got some dope shit done this week for my boys EP and also a dope thing came up with the homie Evolve but I won't talk about it, I wouldn't want to jinx it. But it's big and it's dope!

I know I had mentioned maybe putting up some albums up here from my vinyl collection. I might do that next week as well. Speaking of vinyl, I got wind of a new record store so rest assured I will be hitting that hoe up! =) Man, I was tryina put all my vinyl in order and it sucks. I just have no room. I needa get some of those dope ass shelves I seen. *shrugs* I was supposed to go digging at my main spot last week but I went to catch a flick instead. Whats good fam? Hopefully ya'll had a good weekend, or Halloween weekend! What did ya'll do? Me? I didnt do a damn thing. I know most people dressed up, went to parties etc. I just stayed home, went through records and worked on my tapes. Boring for some, ok for me. I did get to see the Notre Dame game which was dope since they won. The Cowboys won, another plus! Overall it was a pretty nice and chill weekend.

I got the cover done for my star wars tape. Its super fuckn low budget. I tried to make it look as low budget and dare I say, crappy as possible. I didnt put my mug anywhere on it and I followed the old adage of keeping it simple. I think it looks dope, but of course this is completely subjective.

So me and my boy finished taking a test yesterday and we had time to kill so he took me to a thrift store he had recently hit up. I had been in the mood for digging and haven't had the chance to go so this was a little something to hold me over. I will though, be going on an official dig next weekend, hopefully. I digress. So in I went and I ended up finding some cool shit. First I found an Enoch Light record which will make a lovely addition to my ever growing Enoch Light collection. Most of you might have heard an E.L. sample at work on The Beatnuts "Watch Out Now". So that was a dope find. I also copped an Isley Brothers 7" and a dope Batman record. Lol It has like 4 stories(2 on each side) so its a good place to get vocal samples. All in all, it was dope! Much love fam, late!

I just wanted to take some time out and recommend a dope ass documentary entitled "Vinyl". Its directed by Alan Zweig and unlike the title suggests is not just about vinyl records. The doc goes beyond the obsessive record collectors and digs into their brains and ways of thinking and asks them a simple question, why do you do it? After watching this doc, it really made me question the reasons why I'm so obsessed with records, and ask myself, am I as nutty as some of the people in this film? Again, its a dope flick and suggest you watch it. I'm sure you guys can download it or find it on some video site. I used a torrent site. =) Anyway, heres a clip of the film, late!

Well I'm back. I know, its been a long minute but no need for long explanations, it is what is. So, since I've been gone, I've made more music, bought more records, became more broke, and made more music ( I know I mentioned that already). I know I haven't kept in touch with too many people but thats just me. I bet you thought I was gonna apologize huh? Nope. haha I know thats a bit asshole-ish but who cares. I have though, been keeping in touch with a few people I look forward to working with alot in the future and they are those Nervous Fish cats. I've hit up both Evolve and Fluid with beats and they've both been very receptive to what I've given them. A track I did for Evolve called "Chemical Reaction" actually ended up on a mixtape put out by the wonderful people over at www.keepitclassic.com and thats really dope for me and I'm sure for him as well. So shout out to all the Nervous Fish crew. They have an album out so make sure to check em out on my top friends and go to their respective pages and check out their music.

Other than that, I've just stayed busy working on a few instrumental albums that I will be putting out soon. They're very different than what people are accustomed to listening to but I'm just doing me. Remember its not hip hop, its iLL hop™. Dang yo, I swear these past few days were wack as hell as far as my
music goes. I swear I couldn't knock anything out worth bumpn. I think I
just had too many things on my mind, like personal shit, ya know the
daily bullshit.
Good thing I've been able to recognize it and just fall back a bit
instead of trying to force it. I'm glad to say it worked and I have
resumed work on my next tape.

And you know what else? I hate having the feeling of being one of fuckn
Puff's Hitmen. Like, ayo make me a beat like that one. Those days are
over for me. I'm all for someone asking me to capture a certain mood or
feeling but as far as just making something "like that one"...naw that

What's good familia? Hopefully everyone is fine and dandy.

Recently I've been pretty hype about something dumb thats pretty
meaningless to almost everybody but, I found some tiny crates for my
45's¹. Lol Its super dope. I'll post a pic later. The thing is I've seen
little crates before but none have been big enough for the 45's. So now, I don't have em in
crappy boxes or just stacked up somewhere.

Another thing is since I been pretty broke lately, I haven't been able
to go digging as much as I'd like. I'm telling you, all those weekly
$100-200 record buying trips will make a dent in your pockets QUICK. Lol
So, I've had to just go through everything again and dang, I've found
some crazy ass shit.

See usually, as soon as I would find something I could sample from a
record, I'd just sample that piece and put the record to the side and go
on to the next one. After a while of doing that you end up accumalating
mad records that are relatively fresh to your ears since you only got
that one piece. So yeah, I been on that tip since. I guess that's it for

So I've been trying build with several artists from all over. I'm
actually in the process of tryina make a mixtape with all my beats and
mad artists. Honestly, I just thought about it today. I mean its
something I've always wanted to do but I feel like I'm at a point where

been looking for artists, or actually my girl has been the one keeping

Its really pissing me off tremendously but oh well what can I do. I've still managed to work on some shit that I will be submitting to some major labels and a couple indies. I've got till the 31st of this month to submit stuff for a 17yr old rnb/pop artist. I think I've got some dope stuff for her so hopefully the A&R will agree.

The Android's Dungeon

I forgot to mention that I went to see The Watchmen this past weekend. The flick is MAAAADDD long! Don't get me wrong, the action parts were hella dope but there was too much dialogue in my opinion. I think what they tried to do was educate the movie goer about the whole Watchmen series AND entertain them as well, which resulted in a flick that's pushing 3 hours. 3 hours? Dang, I aint gonna front I fell asleep a few times in the beginning. Lol I just couldn't help it. I would really recommend waiting for the dvd release so you can watch it in the comfort of your own home because 3 hours is too long to be sitting in a fucking theatre chair, no matter how much they recline.

On other note, I have been really getting into the Star Wars Omnibus books which are a collection of comic book series' compiled into several books. I really can't stop reading em. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but even I don't know everything going on in the Star Wars Universe for the simple fact that its just so huge! Aight I'm going to make an outlandish statement. I believe I have been cursed. Not by some witch practicing black magic, or any other superstitious cliché. No, I have been cursed by.....my purple pigeon SB Dunks(google it, I don't feel like posting a pic). I know what you're thinking, Serge, you're a fucking idiot. Granted, I know it sounds silly, but I request forebearance. I have proof. Everytime I wear them, its as if its raining shit and I have no umbrella! The following are events that have occured the day I wear these damn kicks:

1. Was at the beach got soaked by a huge fucking wave.

3. Had problems with my tax return

So I been getting mad different inspiration for beats lately. I been listening to a lot of prog rock, punk, post punk, latin jazz, and even some german electro shit from the 80's. What I'm tryina do is combine various elements and make a new genre in which I shall dub, "iLL".

Person: Oh you make hip hop beats?

Me: Naw, I make iLL beats!

It has a nice ring to it don't you agree? Well I think it does so *sticks tongue out*.

I'm really glad I have the opportunity to go diggin for records because I'm able to go through mad different records that I otherwise would never see or know about. That's where I feel I have an advantage over people around my area. Everyone who samples sticks to the typical shit. And those who don't sample, are just biting whatever Timbaland is doing so its damn near the same thing or possibly worse.

Like I said, I been listening to mad different shit. Although I always have listened to different genres, I think now, it seems to soak in a bit different. I think its ridiculous when dudes that attempt to make hip hop/rap music say they only listen to hip hop/rap and don't listen to anything else. As a beat maker and aspiring producer I feel its imperative that one listens to several different genres. You're only limiting yourself by sticking to one.

I know I know, I haven't blogged it up in a few days, and for that I apologize, but I'm back so lets jump right into it.

THURSDAY
I got out of work a little after 6 am and I got home took a shower and started working on beats. I ended up not going to sleep since I was gonna go on a dig with flip. So we headed out to our main spot and I found some really dope shit so I came home happy. Ater I got home I showered up again to go meet up my brother and his girl. We kicked it for a while then I headed over to my girls crib. She cooked lasagna and pizza for dinner. No store bought shit, I'm talking from scratch. Even the sauce muthafuckas! Thanks again mama, I love you!

FRIDAY
I woke up early because I knew I had to go shopping for a fuckn quinceañera I was obligated to attend on Saturday. I ended up going with my brother, found some fresh threads and then my bro bummed off me for lunch. Lol Afterwards I had some time to kill so I chilled and listened to some records I had bought the previous day. At about 8 pm we shot the video for our remix of "Addiction". We finished at about 10 pm. Once we were done with that we hit up Whatatown. After I got home I worked on some beats then called it a night.

SATURDAY
Fast forward to noon. I began to have second thoughts about attending the 15'era but my brother insisted I go with him. He attempted to bribe me with records. I briefly considered accepting the bribe but I finally boycotted it last minute and instead headed out to Hastings with my girl. I ended up coppin some dope cds and so did she. I found KMD's album and I finally got the Gravediggaz first album. I got about 4 other cds and my girl ended up getting 2 that I wanted. =( Its ok, they're OURS anyway! Lol Oh yeah I also copped a dope ass Star Wars book. Its like a gang of comics compiled into one book. Fuckn dope! Anyway, once we were done there we decided to go have dinner with my brother and his girl, a double date of sorts. It was....ok. Haha Next time, me and April will dine by ourselves. (No offense)

So I was cleaning out some of my old cd cases and I stumbled upon O.C.'s 2nd album entitled "Jewelz". Coincidently, flip had let me borrow O.C.'s first album, "Word...Life" a few days ago, which is MAD dope as well! Such a classic. Anyway, I immediately imported the cd into my itunes and into my ipod so I could peep it at work. Dang yo, I instantly went back to '97(the year it was released) in junior high, when I was really diving deep into hip hop.

All of a sudden I started to remember little things that I'll never forget. One thing that sticks out in my mind is when I seen flip had a cd that I thought no one else had. The cd was DMX's "Flesh of My Flesh..." cd. My brother, who I give all the credit to for introducing me to hip hop, had just come back from Cali and he had X's first album and the "Flesh" album. No one really knew who X was at the time and I remember when I saw that flip had it, I was like...."dang, that's crazy, I thought only I knew about X." Its funny how more than 10 years have come and gone and flip and I along with fred are like brothers and trying to dive even deeper into hip hop.

This weekend was a tad shitty but overall extremely dope. My brother came home, so that was dope. There was something very bad that happened that I am not at liberty to discuss...that was the shitty part. I got to work on some more beats for the "A New Hope" mixtape and flip and fred liked em. I also hit up the homie Milez with a beat. Hopefully he likes it, if not, then its back to the lab.

The best part though was on Friday night. I was able to spend some quality time with my valentine. She gave me, literally the best gift I've EVER gotten. A crate full of little things she knws I love. Star Wars stuff, music stuff, gummy worms, cookies she made herself, some shirts that she made as well. The best parts of it were some Nerds with every name we have for each other written on them and her card/letter/motivational poster. Lol I framed it up already and it will be going up on my wall. Plus as I mentioned everything was in a crate not a dumb basket, so now I'm able to use the crate for some of my records. =) thanks mama, for everything! I love you!

Aight what's good fam? Lately, I'd say in the past 2 weeks or so, shits been mad hectic. From dealing with finishing off our mixtapes, to job related matters, to women or...a woman (yeah I know, save it) and everything in between. I'm just sick of a lot of shit. I'm sick of people getting hurt over petty shit. I'm sick of lame ass people tryina fuck with my personal shit. I'm sick of some women being bitches. Ehhh I'm sick of a lot of shit.

And you knw what else I been thinking? I hate the fact that you have to be "out there" so much in this music biz. I can honestly tell you that I dislike being in videos, taking photos, having to talk to people I don't particulary like just for the sake of music. If it were up to me, I would stay Anonymous, much like my "comment-leaver". I truly wish I could just make music, people enjoy it, someone buy my cd and they don't even knw who I am. Unfortunately, that's not possible.

I find it hilarious though, when I see all these dumb rappers from the valley trying SOOO hard to get accepted by "the people". And when they try to front like they're "that muthafucka"....oh its a knee slapper! Haha Quit tryina be so dang hard yo. And quit tryina sound like what's on the radio! Shiiit.

Oh that reminds me, quick story. So this valley singer who shall remain nameless hit me up about beats right. So I ask him what I ask everybody. Who are some of your favorite artists? I tell him I wanna knw that so I can try to get a feel of what he's into and I could cater some beats to his liking. I also ask him "what kind of sound are you going for?" meaning more pop, or r&b maybe a little soulful type shit. Then he proceeds to kinda go on a rant about, "you shouldn't even ask me that cuz I don't wanna sound like ANYBODY." So I'm like aight aight send me some tracks you've been working on. Whats good fam? So last night me and the crew hit up the cinema to catch that new Biggie flick "Notorious". It was aight. Not the greatest of films but good nonetheless. I'ma give it a B+.

After we got out of the theater there was this horrible morbid feeling we all had. I was depressed as fuck after watching that flick. Not only was it sad that I had just seen a movie about a talented dude who was around the same age as myself and had died, but just the feeling of that era had me buggin and like...really jonesing for it. It made me realize what kind of world , music wise, we live in. And being a person who makes music and would like to keep making music for a living, its a bitch of a thing to come to terms with. I was talking to my homegirl April about it and I told her that, that era was dope cuz it was an easy yet difficult time. Easy in the sense that you could just do you, and really have a chance to pop off yet there was so much REAL talent around that it was difficult to pop off but knowing that you can still do you and possibly make it is what kept you going. Things are not like that anymore. You got people straight selling their souls for that pot of gold. Doing a 180 and completely going against what they once represented and thats so fucked up. Its one thing trying different things musically but when you see a blatant attempt at fame, money etc. its kinda sad.

Being from the South Texas, from the RGV, is such a....gift and a curse. You have an opportunity to introduce people to something different but sadly the majority do not want to hear it. The valley is such a fuckn bubble yo! MAAAAAAAAADDDDD people are such fuckn bandwagon types that jump on trends at the drop of a Ed Hardy hat that they don't know originality when it hits them. I apologize if I digress but this is a big reason why the music in the valley plain sucks. I mean even if a person rapping is wack but they're tryina be original and go against the grain I give em their props. I'm not saying I'm the end all be all of musical artists but dang, alot of this shit is wack b.

Like I mentioned on a previous video blog, ya'll should leave more comments, more feedback. It really helps us out as far as knowing who is really listening to our music or watching our videos.

Lets see what else....I'm having trouble deciding what new piece of gear I should buy. I been looking at so much shit its really driving me crazy. Maybe some new monitors, a new synth, new interface, new sequencer....I honestly don't know. Maybe I just wanna buy something although I don't really need anything! lol I also needa hit up the record store. I haven't been out there in a minute and I'm starting to feel the withdrawal symptoms!

Another year has come to an end. Whats good fam? So it's the day after Christmas, and I hope ya'll had a fine holiday. Just wanted to give you a little update on some stuff. The FREAKS AND GEEKS mixtape is about 85% done. In reality all the songs are done, we're just in a process of getting stuff like the tracklisting, some skits and shit like that done.

We've also started on the follow up to the FREAKS AND GEEKS which will be entitled A NEW HOPE which is a play off the Star Wars movie of the same name. The title kinda refers to the fact that everyone around here is making the same type of bullshit ass music, and we are the new hope! The dope thing is that, in order to keep with the Star Wars theme, all the beats will be made by sampling music from the movie. A while back we were at the record store and flip found an original Star Wars soundtrack. I was gonan buy it but I already had a few records and didn't have enough money so Fred bought it. I've had it the whole time though haha but Fred, I will return it....soon! lol Anyway, so thats gonna be hella dope.

I'm also working on an instrumental mixtape. It will be entitled SAVED BY THE BEAT. As you may have already guessed, it does have a Saved By The Bell theme to it. All the beats are made from sampling music from the show. lol It's almost done so I'll just get into details when I post it on here for FREE download.

Another thing is, I want to tell ya'll that we will be releasing another video very soon for the Addiction RMX we did, which will be on FREAKS AND GEEKS.

Umm I think thats about it. As you can see we've all been extremely busy, to make sure you get some dope music to vibe with. I'll be back later though so just stay tuned. Much love fam, late!

Anyway, I got to work on some beats for the mixtape/album follow up of FREAKS AND GEEKS. I swetagod yo, its gonna have peoples faces scrunched! The title of it is perfect and the beats are gonna be perfect with the title. I mean...everything is just gonna be perfect, very cohesive.

Oh yeah, so I was going through some of my older beats and I stumbled upon this remix I had done. It was originally made for my American Gangster remix I was doing but all my projects and samples and everything were lost in a hard drive that crashed. But I still have this one, its a remix for the song PRAY by JAY-Z. Its mad old but no one has ever heard it except me, but now yall can peep it! Tell me what you think. Holla, late!

Aight so we finished up the video yesterday, all thats needed is the editing which Fred will do this weekend and the video should be done by this coming week. We also got the tracklist set for the Freaks and Geeks mixtape. All we need now is the photoshoot for the cover and that should be it. I've already found a photographer, but we just needa set up a time.

I think thats pretty much it. I didnt get to go diggin for records this week, which sucked hippo nuts. Lol its been hilarious how many people have been asking me where that record store is. I'M NOT GONNA TELL YOU! I'm sorry if thats asshole-ish of me, but I really don't care. So as I previously mentioned, we were planning on doing a lil vid for "Get It Poppin". Well last night, we started off with a few shots. They came out dope. Its really dope about our camp cuz we all have our own lil thing we do besides rap. Whether its making beats, cutting it up on the turntable, or in this case making videos. Fred's been really good at conceptualizing these videos man! Anyway, the whole vid should be done withing the next week or so. Ok, so flip, Fred, Jc and I head out to Harlingen on Saturday to that Jackson Street Market thing they have. I had told flip about it last month and they had some people selling records so he wanted to hit the spot up. We get there and I tell the guys that we should go into this one particular store where dude had some dope records, albeit a bit over priced. Ayway we're there, I find a Sly and the Family Stone record but its like fuckn 12 dollars, but fuck it! We're about to leave and some old stoner dude asks, "Hey you guys looking for records?" to which we all respond in unison "Yeah!" He just says "Follow me!". People.......this was like the fuckn illest shit I've ever seen. a huge room filled with nothing but records. This dude didnt have bullshit either he had HEAT! I mean damn near anything and everything you could think of he had. Just MADDDD records. So yeah, yesterday was prolly one of the greatest days in my life. We ended up spending about 5 hours there and we all came home with some heat.
